Today is Purim, a Jewish holiday that commemorate the deliverance of the Jewish people in Ancient Persia from genocide. It was spearheaded by the Persian official Haman, as recorded in the Book of Esther in the Bible.

Somehow the whole masquerading and costumes had been added to the festival.

This past Sunday, Purim was celebrated early in Chinatown (of all places!!) in Capitale- all sorts of costumes and quirky people came out to play. One of the celebrants carried an inflatable boom box!

Time for some hamantaschen!
