lapidary

This was word of the day two days ago but didn’t have a scanner available to scan this image. I have imagined this elderly man cutting away at this precious stone in the shape of a human under soft low lighting but these were the sketches I came up with. A little hard to make out the stone but you get the idea (right?) I am sure this is not how a lapidist do his/her work!
